The Grosse Pointe Youth Nautical Education Foundation is once again sponsoring the USA Sailing Junior Olympic Festival -Great Lakes, July 6-8th, 2012 at the Grosse Pointe Yacht ClubTo learn more about US Sailing Junior Olympic Festivals click here.


The Grosse Pointe Youth Nautical Education Foundation's mission is to promote national and international amateur sailing, maritime education and competition, and water safety. The Foundation supports these activities though outreach programs, training activities, provision of sailing equipment and encouragement of participation in local, national and international nautical activities.

Clinic - Friday, July 6th

Sailors will learn from some of the best coaches in the US. Check back for our line up for the coming year. Clinic opportunities are for Opti Green & RWB, Laser Full & Radial, O'pen BIC, as well as 420 Club & Collegiate fleets.


Regatta - Saturday & Sunday, July 7th & 8th

The weekend will include fun family activities, amazing food, and competitive junior sailing including: Opti Green & RWB, Laser Full & Radial, O'pen BIC, as well as 420 Club & Collegiate fleets. We expect sailors from through-out the National as well as our many of our Canadian friends. In 2011 we had sailors from the Detroit Regional Yacht-Racing Association, Wisconsin, New York, Illinois, Ohio as well as our many of our Canadian friends.


Volunteer Opportunities

There are many volunteer opportunities for assisting with the JO - race committee, mark set boats, spectator boats, entertainment/party organization, registration, etc. If you would like to volunteer please contact Ilja Vreeken, GPYNEF Junior Olympic Festival Chair.
